KATE ABERNETHY
Kate graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in dance in 2008. Throughout her college years, she performed various works by Jose Limon, Mark Morris, Jim Coleman, Terese Freedman, & Tim Early. She also spent a semester abroad in Melbourne, Australia studying dance at the Victorian College of the Arts. Kate joined Keila's company in June 2008. She performed in Janet 2.0 & The Weather Project with the company in the Philly Fringe show last year. She also performed with fellow company members Melissa Rodis & Cristin Van Horn in Influx, a choreographic workshop series this past winter.
HEATHER COLE
Heather Cole a recent graduate of Headlong Performance Institute and has a BA in Theatre from Temple University in Acting and Dance with a minor in Studio Art. She is passionate about dance theatre, with an eclectic resume of both dance and theatre performances. She is also a freelance choreographer and teacher living in the Philadelphia Suburbs.
KATHY KERNER
Kathleen Kerner is from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She graduated in May of 2007 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BFA degree in Dance Performance and Choreography. Kathleen was a member of Hoctor's Dance Caravan Company in the summers of 2004 and 2007, traveling around the United States performing and holding workshops. She was a member of the John Gamble Dance Theatre from 2004-2007, and performed with them numerous times in the North Carolina Dance Festival and the Fringe Festival. In the fall of 2005 she spent six months studying dance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, Australia. In September 2008, Kathleen danced for Tammy Jean McMullin in the Philly Fringe Festival. Kathleen has been dancing for keila cordova dances since June of 2009.
MELISSA RODIS
Melissa Rodis has just recently returned to the Philadelphia area, having spent the last couple years dancing and choreographing in Melbourne, Australia. While in Melbourne, she produced a season of emerging works at Dancehouse, providing several talented Australian artists the opportunity to showcase their work. Over the years, Melissa has had the opportunity to dance with and learn from a variety of artists and teachers in several environments, including Amherst College as a Theater and Dance major, the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Summer Stages Dance at Concord Academy, and the various American College Dance Festival workshops. Always looking for variety in approaches to dance and choreography, she has performed in works by Wendy Woodson, Trisha Brown, John Jasperse, Stephen Koplowitz, and Keila Cordova. Particular mentors and idols include Wendy Woodson, Keila Cordova, Abby Yager, Risa Steinberg, Daniel Nagrin and Niki Cousineau. Melissa currently dances with Wabi Sabi Dance and allendance and is most especially excited to be returning to her first Philly dance home, kcd
CRISTIN VAN HORN
In addition to working with KCD, Cristin has recently reunited with some Franklin & Marshall folks to continue challenging her body & creativity. Her love of dance extends into the administrative world, as she is currently the Program Assistant for Rennie Harris Puremovement. When she is not teaching at La Luna Dance Studio, or coaching at George School, Cristin likes to read Kerouak & dye her hair.
ZOE
Zoe grew up in St. Louis, MO where she began her study of dance and her career in the Performing Arts. She attended Wesleyan University, where she pursued theatre, dance, music and foreign language study. Zoe currently lives in NYC and in addition to working with KCD, she also performs sketch and improv comedy. www.zoeisagirl.com
